Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): Executioner Badr Al-Gaith died on November 1, 2021. He was one of the most notorious executioners, whose name was linked to torture, killings and persecution of protestors during the 2011 Bahraini pro-democracy uprising. He represented the ugly face of the ruling regime.
London-based activist and technical expert Ali Abdulimam recalled the period when he was arrested, particularly in 2010, when he saw Al-Gaith for the first time.
Ali Abdulimam told his story via his Twitter account, saying: "Executioner Badr Al-Gaith was responsible for my torture and the torture of many people. He died without undergoing a fair trial condemning and exposing his brutality".
"This may be the most annoying part of his death. I wished he was brought before the court where witnesses would be present to attest and expose how he mercilessly tortured and killed," he added.
He went on to say that "when he screamed in my face while he had his hands on Al-Mokhawder (Sheikh Abdulhadi Al-Mokhawder), I saw the devil looking at me."
Other Twitter users retold what Al-Gaith did to a number of martyrs and political activists. Some shared what prisoner Abdulwahab Hussein said about the torture he was subjected to by Badr Al-Ghaith. He said: "On the way, I was hit, punched and insulted inside the car. They did not forget to insult me as a person, my family, my wife, my mother, my daughters, my sect and my religious symbols."
For his part, exiled Ibrahim Karimi, who was stripped of his nationality, tweeted: "There is no gloating in death... He committed suicide after suffering from mental illness, especially severe depression and terrible nightmares."
