Bahrain Mirror: The "Les Echos" French newspaper said there are ongoing efforts by the Israeli i24NEWS channel to open two offices in Bahrain and Morocco, after opening an office in Dubai last summer.
"i24NEWS is a complex media outlet. This makes a permanent settlement between journalistic professionalism and propaganda aimed at improving Israel's image," Jerome Bourdon, a professor at the Department of Communications at Tel Aviv University, was quoted as saying. The expert stresses that the channel "tends to neglect disturbing facts like the atrocities committed by the occupation."
i24NEWS is a news channel owned by Patrick Drahi, a French-Moroccan-Israeli-Portuguese billionaire businessman. It was founded in 2013 in the occupied Palestinian territories.
In December 2020, the channel's CEO, Frank Melloul, signed an agreement with Abu Dhabi Media Company (ADM), and other agreements with the Dubai Government's media office, Etisalat and Du telecoms, Gulf News newspaper and Motivate Media Group.
