Over 20 human rights figures and organizations sent letter to British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs urging him to call on Bahrain to release Nabeel Rajab.

British daily The Guardian reported that “Bahraini human rights activist Nabeel Rajab is facing a lengthy prison sentence simply for stating that journalists and international NGOs cannot enter Bahrain.”

News of Bahraini regime carrying out execution of Abbas Al-Samie, Sami Mushaima and Ali Al-Singace prompted reactions from EU and British MPs, as well as foreign, Arab and Bahraini activists.

The British Foreign Office raised concerns with Bahraini government over arrest of prominent Bahraini dissenter, Ebrahim Sharif.

Speaking to CommonSpace, Sayed Ahmed Al-Wadaei, director of advocacy at Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy (Bird), said: “The UK continually claims to support human rights in Bahrain, but to what result? Britain has only gotten friendly with a regime which has escalated its repression in the past year.”
