Saudi Arabia Hands over Al-Murabti to Bahrain after Serving 13 Years in Dammam�s Prison

Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Al-Wasat newspaper quoted Abdullah Hachem, lawyer of extremist groups in Bahrain, saying that "the Saudi authorities released on Tuesday (September 13, 2016) the Bahraini citizen Abdurrahim Al-Murbati after spending more than 13 years in Dammam's prison."

Al-Murabti was arrested on June 6, 2003 over security case; Al-Riyadh blasts that took place in May 2003. The lawyer said that Al-Murabti was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

One of Al-Murabti's sons posted a tweet on Tuesday night saying that the authorities in Bahrain received his father from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

According to Hachem, Al-Murabti was transferred to the main security headquarters in the southern governorate when arriving to Bahrain from Dammam. It is still unknown whether Al-Murabti will serve his remaining prison term, less than two years, or he will be released.

Al-Murabti's family has demanded over years to transfer him to Bahrain and release him and so did Bahraini human rights figures and Parliamentarians.
