Bahrain Mirror: Maryam Al-Khawaja posted a tweet on her Twitter account saying that the Bahraini authorities once again prevented her father from seeing a cardiologist, which puts his life to more danger.

She said in a video she attached to her tweet "My father was told this morning at dawn that he would have an appointment with two doctors, a cardiologist and a urologist. He got ready and waited to be transferred to the hospital. They came back and told him he would have agree to handcuffs, because the military hospital is refusing to have him brought without them, including during transportation. My father agreed to this even though he has a medical notice that he should not be handcuffed because of his back problems."

"They then came back and said he would have to be transferred in the infamous Turkish bus (or as it is called the Turkish armored vehicle), which you can read more about on freealkhawaja.org. Again, my father accepted despite the vehicle being extremely bad for transportation and usually leave prisoners in worse conditions," she noted.

She said that he also agreed despite normally refusing this method of transportation due to the negative impact it has on his health. They said that "they are going to confer," until it was too late to transfer him, in effect denying him the appointments.

Al-Khawaja stressed that it was clear that they did not want to take him to his medical appointments. "Despite it not being in their own political interest, it seems the Bahrain regime is setting up the circumstances to cause the death of my father and potentially others in prison. This wouldn't be the first time as there were three deaths in Bahrain's prisons in 2021 amid serious allegations of medical negligence. We need governments, especially Bahrain's allies in the West, to move before it's too late."

 Maryam Al-Khawaja recently addressed the UN Human Rights Council about her father's situation during Bahrain's UPR acceptance session, and The Guardian published an article about Maryam's request to swap places with her father in prison in an attempt to save his life.
